Ruby June Roberts is Born!!! 8 pounds 2 oz, 21 3/4 inches

Ruby June Roberts was born September 21st 2009 at 1:55 pm in Santa Rosa California. At birth she weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces and was 21 and 3/4 inches in length.

Emily did amazing! Every cliche about child birth is true. I really had to witness it to understand. Emily is incredibly strong.

Her water broke at 12:17 am Monday morning. We headed to the hospital about an hour later and were admitted. She started pushing around noon on Monday and pushed for a little over 2 hours until Ruby June was born.
Ruby June came out looking just beautiful. I had prepared (from the information I received at the Kaiser birthing classes) for a freaky looking little imp covered in Vernix. She looked like a perfect little baby though. The picture to the left is just seconds after I cut the cord.

Here is Ruby getting her first bath! She did not enjoy it very much.

We have to thank Emily's parents Frank and Louann and also Ryan and Renae for helping us so much over the past few days. Renae cleaned our house for us and it was so nice to come home to a perfectly clean house. It was such a wonderful thing to do for us. They also came to visit with their new babies - Bella and Lulu - seen here.

Our daughter is the most beautiful baby in the word.

I'm feeling pretty blessed.

Ginger (the yet to be born) and Emily were in the wedding.

They were the best looking bridesmaids.

Emily and I spent the weekend with our baby inspiration Gabriel. As you can see he's a serious Equestrian.

First Ultra Sound

I admit I was surprised when the baby started dancing.
Here he/she is waving hello.
I did not expect to be able to see so much detail. The baby was swimming around, and looked like it was having a great time.

Today we got to see the baby for the first time. It was amazing. Emily was thrilled. I was too, and a little seasick.

Grape Baby

Heading into week nine! The baby is the size of a grape this week, and has lost its tail. Dad is about to leave mom this week for Las Vegas. She gets to spend a stormy week at home alone. (so sad!)

OB/GYN Day

Today we visited Regina, Emily's OB/GYN at Kaiser. She is a sweet funny woman, and she made it official! And boy did it suddenly feel official...

Emily breaks the news

I am convinced that Emily is in fact pregnant with a reincarnation of our beloved bunny rabbit Muppet. I don't know how our parents will feel about us naming our child Muppet.

Here is a picture of Emily asleep in bed in the middle of the day claiming she is filled with something called "progesterone."

Although I heard her time and again the news really hit me when I was away on business in Salt Lake City. Here is a picture of me realizing I was soon going to be a father. (note the serious expression).
